The DC16 is a top quality, cutting edge AR-15 upper with a totally new long-stroke gas piston system.  This baby provides everything you could want in a tactical AR-15 carbine for self defense, 3-gun competition or combat.  For those of you who are familiar with the Primary Weapons original piston system, don't be confused, this is a totally new system.  The gas system uses a very robust, AK style piston attached to the bolt carrier that moves with it, hence the long-stroke designation.  This gives it many advantages over every other AR operating system.  It has a smoother stroke and softer recoil impulse than either a short stroke piston system or a direct gas impingment system.  It doesn't have the heat and carbon build up in the bolt and carrier like the direct gas system.  And it also doesn't have the carrier tilt problems or extra parts and springs of the short stroke piston systems.  Since the piston is connected to the carrier, it completely prevents any bolt carrier tilt which helps with wear and tear on the receiver and receiver extensions.  It also has a longer dwell time which allows chamber pressures to drop, making extraction easier and smoother with less stress on the bolt parts.  The forearm rail system is also totally new and is bolted directly to the barrel nut and gas block.  It is a very clean, low profile design that provides excellent ventalation.  It is mid-length which gives you plenty of room for whatever attachments you want to mount on it and maximum sight radius for your iron sights.  It is also lower profile, lighter weight and stronger than most free-float arrangements.  And no, it doesn't hurt your accuracy.  Only top quality materials and components are used.  It has a Daniel Defense cold hammer forged barrel with chrome lined bore, a Daniel Defense bolt/carrier group, the PWS gas piston, gas block, rail system, and FSC556 compensator, forged upper receiver and charging handle and Magpul XTM rail covers.  The gas block and piston system are also QPQ coated for maximum lubricity, wear resistance and corrosion resistance.  The bottom line is in the performance and it is outstanding!  Not only is the recoil impulse very soft compared to other AR operating systems, but the accuracy with the Daniel Defense barrel is also outstanding.  The gas system operates very cleanly with very little carbon buildup.  Maintenance is very simple and normally only requires a wipe down of the bolt, carrier and piston and cleaning the bore.  The gas tube can be swabbed out and wiped dry after approximately every 4,000-5,000 rounds.  So for those shooters who are looking for the latest cutting edge design that is built for hard use with superior performance, take a good look at the new DC-16 upper.  Currently available at www.nokick.com.
